May: the Cordoba Patio Festival. A riot of flowers as a hundred houses open to the public during the competition for the "best-dressed" patio now declared UNESCO world patrimony! Dance, music and pandillas of Cordobans combine to create the unique ambiance of an Andalusian fiesta in the patios and squares of the old city.
7 DAYS (6 NIGHTS) Activities: discovery of Moorish Cordoba and Granada; group 10 maximum:
- guided visits (some with an audio-guide or our own special topo-guide, with a plan and detailed historical information). Two easy short walks (1h30-2h, maximum denivellation +100m). At least two flamenco evenings.
FULL BOARD EXCEPT TWO MEALS, in rooms for two in hotels (private bathrooms). Three nights at Cordoba, a small hotel with a patio and terrace bar-restaurant, in an ideal situation in the old city centre, near the new archaeological museum but well away from the main tourist areas. Three nights in Granada, in a private street of villas with gardens at the foot of the Alhambra hill: views of Granada and Sierra Nevada. Delicious local gastronomy of traditional east-Andalusian cuisine and tapas.

DISPERSAL Málaga, in the morning - choose a flight departing after 12.30.
Location of this programme:
SUNDAY: Transfer to Granada for the first three nights.
MONDAY: In the Sierra Nevada, on the trail of the former copper mines of the Genil valley. Bathing possible in the stream. The fabulous Alhambra and Generalife palaces.
TUESDAY: The Albayzín, historically the most important quarter of Granada, with something of a "village" atmosphere. Two very special Granadan cármenes: the marvellous gardens of Los Mártires and the house of Manuel de Falla.
WEDNESDAY: Short walk of Trassierra in the Sierra Morena near Cordoba. The fabulous ruins of Madinat al-Zahra, city-palace of the Caliphs. Las Ermitas: tiny hermitages in the Sierra Morena foothills, with an admirable view of Cordoba and its surroundings. Arrival at Cordoba: evening stroll around a few of the patios.
THURSDAY & FRIDAY: Cordoba exploration of the old city: the mosque-cathedral, synagogue, San Bartolomé, caliphal baths, Alcázar, walls, noria, Roman bridge and temple, plaza del Potro... Alfonsina churches, austere noble houses and popular patios... works of the celebrated Cordoban artist Julio Romero de Torres and the museums of the poet Luis de Góngora and the novelist Antonio Gala.
SATURDAY: Transfer to Málaga.
