Special Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve dinner and evening

Guided walks, history, nature and seasonal celebrations - West Andalusia - small international guided group

New Year's Eve at Prado del Rey (Cádiz province), with almost a carnival atmosphere, in the hills between the limestone peaks of the Sierra de Grazalema and the agricultural landscapes of the campiña. The Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos (5 January) in the elegant town of Medina Sidonia.

Activities: 4 days with walks of 3-4 hours and two of about 1.5 hours, on occasionally steep/stony paths (denivellation max. +350m) and varied historical/natural visits: historical towns of Arcos de la Frontera, Bornos, Medina Sidonia, Ubrique and Zahara de la Sierra; Roman remains hidden in the hills; picturesque white villages with their traditional agricultural activities. Group 8 maximum.

in rooms for 2 with private bathrooms: four nights at the hotel of Prado del Rey. Simple and delicious mountain gastronomy: Prado del Rey produces wine, cheese and iberian pork products. Three nights in a converted C18 noble house at Medina Sidonia — a town known for its original and varied tapas.

FESTIVITIES Prado del Rey is known for its singular Fiesta Carnavalesca de Nochevieja. After the New Year's Eve dinner, everyone goes in disguise to the town square to eat the traditional 12 grapes and welcome in the New Year. This colourful tradition dates back to the last part of the Franco era, when the intrepid Pradenses started to defy the authorities by going out to eat their grapes together on the square, with numerous decorations so as to be better noticed. At Medina Sidonia, there is a splendid Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos in the afternoon of 5 January.

PRICE 1075 euros per person; obligatory single room supplement 155 euros.
